“Yes, I definitely remember my first car,” laughs Chris Khoury, owner and operator of prestigious automobile dealership Autoluxe Cars. “It was actually a hand-me-down from my parents – a 1996 Mitsubishi Magna that I used to share with my mum.”

It might not have been the most glamorous ride, but Chris’ Magna allowed him the freedom to hit the road and kick-started his long and successful journey as an automobile fanatic. His passion deepened a few years later when he could afford to buy what was his dream car as a young lad – a Honda Integra Type R. “That car was the beginning of everything for me,” he recalls with a twinkle in his eye. “The sound, the handling, the feel of the drive – it reignited my passion for Japanese performance cars and really cemented my love for the automotive world.”

That passion has led to an extensive career in the auto industry, with Chris first gaining experience with Japanese automotive manufacturer Toyota. It was here that Chris secured on-the-job training, strong product knowledge and a customer-focused sales approach. He loved his time on the showroom floor connecting people with cars that fit their needs before being headhunted by Suzuki, where he expanded his skill set into selling both new and used vehicles, eventually transitioning into the auction side of the industry.

“That move completely changed my perspective. I learned how to source stock strategically, analyse market movements in real time and build relationships that mattered,” Chris explains. “I also took on a role in Victoria as a buyer and wholesaler for a Tasmanian company. That position gave me even greater reach across states, working directly with dealers, franchise groups, and independents to move and acquire stock at scale. It allowed me to travel, sharpen my instincts, and expand my network nationally.”

Returning to Adelaide, Chris wanted to use the skills he had acquired to start his own dealership, one he says is “built on the relationships, reputation and real hands-on knowledge I gained along the way.”

That’s when he came up with the idea of Autoluxe Cars.
