Milledge’s Distillation is a family-run venue bottling award-winning artisan spirits in the heart of Port Adelaide.
Alcohol is in Adrian Galindo’s blood. Owners of the famous Poole bottle shop and bottling factory in County Dorset, UK, the Milledge’s name can be traced back more than 200 years. Adrian’s family was responsible for smuggling barrels of ‘Genever’ gin across the English Channel from France to Dorset, quenching the thirst of Londoners and local farmers alike.
Migrating to Adelaide in 2003, Adrian’s passion for distilling never wavered. After he was gifted a bottle of homemade spirit by a patient of his audiology business, he began spending his weekends with his new pal learning the art of distilling. It didn’t take long for Adrian to set up a makeshift distillery in his backyard shed – a 50-foot workshop constructed to support his other hobby, boat building.
Combining his passion for the sea with his love of spirits, Adrian opened Milledge’s Distillation in an old factory in the heart of the Port. It’s here that Adrian and his son Tom, also a qualified distiller, oversee the production of the brand’s signature spirit, Milledge’s Original Gin. Although a whiskey lover, Adrian is a believer in tradition, with Milledge’s Original Gin crafted using an old family recipe passed down through the years, with local botanicals giving it an Aussie twist.
Milledge’s range has expanded recently with the introduction of the award-winning Vodka Innit and a tasty Coffee Liqueur made using distilled vodka infused with cold brew, single-origin Colombian coffee. The Milledge’s range can be found in over 50 of the best independent Adelaide cocktail bars and venues – take your pick of the amazing venues on Peel or Leigh Streets.
Milledge’s is more than just a distillery, with the converted warehouse serving as a multi-purpose space that’s also home to a café and bar. Adrian’s passion for supporting local live music, comedy, and other events means there’s always something to see at Milledge’s. Pop into the bar for a tipple of Milledge’s Original Gin, try one of the many local beers and wines, or sample one or many of the signature cocktails utilising the Milledge’s range.
The café is a modern and welcoming eatery. Enjoy a mug of liquid gold made using Adelaide’s Charlie Black coffee beans or grab a table and sample some of the brunch favourites that make up the menu. Highlights include the egg and bacon brioche roll and Milledge’s famous loaded Big Breakfast.
The venue hosts weekly art classes and exhibitions, provides private rooms for those looking for a co-working space in the heart of the Port, and is available for hire for any events. Adrian Galindo has opened more than just a distillery; he has created a space for good spirits and good people to come together in the heart of Port Adelaide.
