Established in 1929 by the Webb family, the business passed through the hands of Stan Koukouro before close friends Andy Libralato and Fred Trombetta, who both immigrated to Australia together, took over the business in 1980. Andy passed the business onto his son Richard and his wife Filomena in 1996, with the couple elevating Ideal Shoe Repairs to another level of craftsmanship and customer service.
Restoring and repairing footwear is the foundation of the business, with Ideal Shoe Repairs becoming an official service and warranty repairer for major international companies, such as RM Williams, Lowa, Zamberland, Crispi and Meindl, along with many local brands.
Alongside his wife and a dedicated staff of two, Richard has been the catalyst behind Ideal Shoe Repairs’ success, with the business having earned a reputation for its high-quality workmanship and superior service. Using traditional methods, Richard and his team can resole, repair, restore and adjust, replace buckles and hardware, take in or widen boot calves, add heel lifts or comfort pads, insoles and protective soles, along with shine, condition, and clean shoes.
Shoe repairs, adjustments and restorations are available for all types of footwear, with Richard and his team specialising in repairing everyday, mountaineering, hiking and equestrian boots. Ideal Shoe Repairs are also known for their expert repairs when it comes to rock climbing and bouldering shoes, using genuine Vibram rubber to make sure all repairs are of the highest standard. They are the only repairers in the state that have the materials and knowledge to resole all brands of climbing shoes.
