Where architecture leads and storytelling follows
Founded by Dimitri Kastrappis, Duoco Media is a luxury architectural photography and cinematography studio specialising in high-end real estate, commercial property, and architecturally significant spaces. What started as a one-person operation in a small bedroom office in 2019 has since grown into a close-knit, tightly aligned creative studio producing over 3000 campaigns annually across South Australia.
For those who aren’t familiar with Duoco Media, can you explain your business and those who are behind it?
The name Duoco represents the original duo who established this company; my business partner Luke Roberts and myself. Two creatives committed to building something with meaning. We operate as a production house rather than a freelance service. We don’t outsource our post-production and that level of control is deliberate to maintain consistency, high standards and ownership of all processes.
Describe why you started, and what motivated you to create this business with such a tight-knit crew.
Duoco began at the intersection of passion and risk, and our tight-knit culture wasn’t accidental. The team was built carefully to ensure our passions were equally shared and aligned to bridge the disconnect I felt with how homes were being marketed in Adelaide. My studies taught me to analyse space deeper than surface aesthetics, and while the architecture itself was refined and thoughtful, the way it was being visually represented often lacked that same integrity, sensitivity and cinematic discipline.
What first drew you to architectural spaces and visual storytelling?
Studying Architectural Design trained me to understand space both structurally and conceptually. Photography allowed me to respond to it emotionally. The more I progressed in both, the more obvious the connection became. Instead of choosing between architecture and creative production, I found a way to bring them together. That intersection became the foundation of Duoco.

When you approach a new project, what are you looking for beyond the obvious aesthetics?
Beyond aesthetics, we are looking for rhythm and atmosphere. Every project begins with observation that informs how we frame, how we move the camera and how we pace a film. Then we consider light. Not just how it looks when we arrive, but how it moves across the property throughout the day. We also pay attention to transition, movement, and sound. Ultimately, we are trying to understand the emotional temperature of the home. Is it calm and minimal? Is it dramatic and architectural? Is it warm and layered? Once we understand that, we build the visual narrative around it. The architecture leads, and we respond to it. We are documenting physical structures, but we are also shaping a story and how it will be experienced by those who can’t physically walk through it.
How would you describe your creative process from the initial brief through to final delivery?
Before we pick up a camera, we want to understand the broader context. What is the agent’s strategy? Who is the target buyer? What was the architect trying to achieve? Is this campaign positioned around scale, intimacy, lifestyle or design pedigree? The answers to those questions shape everything that follows.
In a competitive creative landscape, what do you believe truly sets Duoco apart?
I believe it comes down to standards, discipline and alignment. We have built Duoco intentionally, and we have protected it deliberately. Every team member has been hand-selected, not simply for technical ability, but for their mindset. They are at the top of their game in their respective roles, and they understand the level of care required to operate in the luxury space. Skill can be taught, standards are instinctive. Luxury goes beyond how something looks – it is discipline. It is reliability. It is delivering the same quality on the thousandth campaign as we did on the first. That discipline, shared across the entire team, is what ultimately sets Duoco apart.
